Do or Do Not...there is NO try
And Yoda was right.
Whenever I’ve gone half-hearted into a project and said “I’ll give it a try” has been when I got the shittiest results.
Whereas when I’ve knuckled down and gone all in the results have always been good if not great.
Why?
Because I was fully invested in the project.
In my head, I wasn’t committed to the goal and didn’t put in the effort needed to achieve anything beyond mediocre results.
Saying you'll try is giving yourself an out.
That, if you don't get something done, well, it wasn't your fault.
Instead, commit to a task and get it done.
Now, this doesn’t mean that things will be easy or that you won’t have to look at finding solutions to complete the project but you are much more likely to finish if you say you will DO it.
It might mean you need outside help to handle parts you can’t do yourself.
That you need to invest in some new software to automate a laborious and boring aspect.
Or that you might need to upskill in an area to get the job done but being fully invested in the project means these aren’t seen as a reason to stop.
One such thing for me was doing outreach.
Now I love ads and will happily talk about their benefits all day long but “cold” outreach can be a great way to build bonds and make sales too…but it is a total ballache.
Manually sending out messages is time consuming and the kind of thing that has me saying “fuck that” very quickly.
Thankfully, there are a lot of great pieces of software now that can do this for you on both email and social media.
However, I ran into a bit of a problem with social media since a lot of my potential leads for copywriting were businesses I was prospecting on LinkedIn.
And annoyingly, LinkedIn is a bit of a beast unto itself and most of the software that’s out there doesn’t work on the platform.
Thankfully, I came across a solution when one of the other copywriters I know told me about Waalaxy.
The great thing about Waalaxy is that it can not only handle your outreach but can find new leads for you too.
It does this by “scraping” the contacts from your connections and sending then sending them friend requests.
Meaning, once you’re set up you can grow your contact list on autopilot and also send them messages once you’re connected.
It was a bit of a game changer on using LinkedIn which I had kinda given up on.
Now my list of contacts is growing and connections are being made with next to no effort on my part.
I’ll pop a link down below for you to transform your LinkedIn account from the forgotten runt of the litter into a puppy you’re proud of.
