Email vs Social - there can be only one
"SOMETHING TO READ"
Never Eat Alone - I was given this as a prezzie a few years ago by my coach and it’s well worth a read.
In essence, Keith Ferazzi’s book is about the power of networking. How, contrary to popular belief, the more you use your network the stronger that your network will become.
But like investing in a pension you need to start before you need it if you want to truly reap the rewards.
And here’s the Spotify link if you can’t wait for Amazon to deliver the hard copy.
"SOMETHING TO DO"
Want more clients?
Of course, you do.
Well, here are 4 things you can do that will improve ALL of your content.
Listen to your clients: Use their exact language to describe their problems
Engage in relevant spaces: Find your audience in forums and groups.
Create valuable content: Address common problems and build trust.
Implement those 3 tips and you’ll transform your marketing.
"SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT"
You are different so why not embrace it? It’s too easy to get caught up in trying to be better than everyone else in your market when you don’t need to be better…you need to be different.
Plus, the reason people want to work with you is NOT because your programme is the best out there, sorry that isn’t the reason. They want to work with you because of who you are.
So embrace what’s different about you and unleash your inner weirdo.
Coke is it…or so Coca-Cola would have you believe.
And in every country in the world, it is the #1 soft drink…except for here in Scotland where Irn Bru tops the list.
But I think if we went back to the 1890s version of Coke then it’d knock our local favourite from the top spot because Coke 1.0 was the OG.
Complete with cocaine and a shit tonne of other ingredients that wouldn’t get within a sniff of passing the Food Standards of today.
Whereas today you’ve got the likes of Coke Zero.
Coke Zero is like Coke created by a Homeopath.
It ain’t gonna perk you up like the OG would, even if it shows you’re down with the latest trends.
Which brings me neatly to what I want to talk about today.
Email marketing.
Email isn’t quite the OG when it comes to direct response marketing, that has to go to snail mail.
But neither is email a poor impersonation of snail mail.
Email is Coke 1.0 in a different bottle.
Whilst Social Media is Coke Zero.
You can post as often as you want on social media but it doesn’t pack the punch of email.
Much like they’ve taken the coca leaf, the sugar, the caffeine out of Coke you can’t say everything you might want to say on social media… especially in adverts.
You have to tread a very careful line so you don’t offend someone.
Email though?
You can say whatever you want in your emails without fear of getting closed down.
And that’s a massive plus.
Not only that but email hangs about.
Post something on IG and it has a shelf life of a few hours if you’re lucky before disappearing into the abyss.
Then there’s the fact that less than 5% of your followers are likely to read your posts on social media versus if you’re doing it badly, 20% in email.
Plus, with email, you can get down and dirty and describe a world filled with pain and frustration your readers are dealing with.
Then show them down a path where you paint a picture of dreams being fulfilled.
Not something you can do on social media…well not without fear of Big Zuck shutting you down for breaking rules you didn’t know existed.
Plus, you don’t need to email anything like as often as you might post on social media. And 1-2 per week id the sweet spot.
So get cracking and start emailing.
Need an incentive to get cracking?
