The guy saved my life...

“Help me. I’m going to die.”

Lying crushed in the dust, blood dripping out of his mouth having come off second best in a fight with a tonne of angry bull, Brendon Clark probably did think he was going to die.

Thankfully, by his side was one Dr. Tandy Freeman.

Two years after the accident in a Texas Rodeo Clark said -

“The guy saved my life, that’s the reality.”

Freeman ditched the riches of the NFL for the dirt of the bull-riding circuit and has likely extended 100s of careers, saved countless lives, and enabled 1000s of bull riders to retire in better shape than they thought possible.

And for the last 30-odd years, Dr Freeman has been the medical director for the Professional Bull Riders organisation and the Justin Sportsmedicine Team, a group that has served rodeos since 1980.

And let’s face it the bull riders are lucky, because if ever a sport needed an orthopaedic surgeon on hand it’s bull riding.

Which goes to show you can combine your passion and your business.

I mean, here’s a guy who has worked at the pinnacle of professional sport but ditched the pampered world of the NFL to work with “lowly” bull riders and still has had an incredibly successful career.

And you can follow in his footsteps.

Dr. Freeman clearly liked working with professional athletes having not only worked with the Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks to name to teams that have been lucky enough to have him on their staff.

And he could’ve picked wherever he wanted to work because you don’t get those jobs unless you’re good…very good.

But he followed his passion and decided to help out guys who a literally putting their life on the line every time they go to work.

And there’s no reason you can’t do a Dr. Freeman.

You can do this by taking your niche and then going at least a couple of levels deeper.

Back when I had my coaching and rehab business I worked with guys who were 40+ years old.

But I didn’t stop there and I went a couple of levels deeper to -

I didn’t want to work with guys looking to get in shape and drop weight.

I wanted to work with guys who had always been active and didn’t want to stop.

Who’d played sports in their 20s and 30s and were keen to get the most out of themselves.

But there was a problem…they were injured and didn’t know how to get back on track again.

And you need to do the same.

Take you’re niche and think about who it is within your niche that you really want to work with.

Do that and you won’t struggle to find clients even though your client pool might get smaller.

Mainly because you’ve made yourself a specialist and are now the go-to person for a select group of people.

P.S. I’ve mentioned previously about having a content email address that you use to sign up for newsletters etc which is how I came across Dr. Tandy Freeman.

I signed up for 1440 Daily Digest and it was one of the first stories I saw and I instantly knew the email I was going to read.

And I recommend signing up to get a slew of content ideas.
