The fast track to writing exceptional emails
The phone rang and I was about to ignore it but glanced to see who it was…
After School Club
“Fuck, what’s happened?”
I grabbed the phone to be told Andrew had projectile vomited across the room and could I come and get him.
As I charge down to the school picturing the scene in “The Omen” with everyone e=getting covered in pea soup.
And when I got there the wee man looked very “green about the gills”.
Then, not even halfway home, there was a gurgling sound that nobody wanted to hear followed by, well I’ll let your imagination fill in the details.
And yet 24 hours later he was right as rain.
Whatever bug he picked up had been expelled from his system and he was back to his usual chirpy self.
Those 24 hours are a bit like my initial foray into email writing.
I’ve been writing emails for myself and clients for about 6 or 7 years now and that first year was all about getting the shit out of my system.
But once I’d cleared out my pipes things improved dramatically.
And the process was super simple…
Write every day.
I signed up for email lists, copied articles, redid sales pages you name it, I consumed it.
Once I’d copied the original I’d write my own version.
Some of these I’d use to send to my list some were simply practice.
And these days I still get on lists to see what people a writing.
So if you want to get better at writing great emails sign up to the likes of Justin Goff, Ian Stanley, Mike Samuels, Alex Cattoni, or Chris Orzechowski’s email lists.
Then use the first 30-60 minutes of the day when you’re fresh and your creative juices are flowing to write.
Hand copy one of their emails then write your own version to send to your email list.
Can’t be bothered to do this and want someone to do the heavy lifting for you?
Reply to this email and we can have a chat about how I can help.
