You’re more than a coach, you’re a life changer
"I've just read your email. Do we need to talk?"
That's a loaded question, especially from your partner.
It sat on Adam's phone, and thoughts of "WTF have I done now?" filled his head during his journey home.
And when he got home, they had "the talk."
His partner had read his latest email about how a gym injury had completely changed his life...and worried it still bothered him 10 years later.
Thankfully, a wave of relief washed across her face and she laughed when he explained that I had written the email based on his story.
I had injected a bit more emotion into the story than his normal style, which, whilst better than most PTs was still on the dry side.
And the story?
He had torn his pec off the bone...ending his Olympic dreams.
At the time he was devastated - who wouldn't be?
Now, 10 years later? He's fine.
Many PTs miss this crucial point.
They focus on facts and figures, ignoring the emotional story.
Facts and figures might look impressive but…
Facts and figures don't prompt your partner to check on your wellbeing.
Clear expression of emotions - good or bad - triggers that response.
This emotional angle is almost certainly missing from your emails and social media.
But add this element into your content and you elevate yourself above the pack.
Because your coaching is more than just helping people achieve a goal.
It’s about elevating who they are and changing the way they think of themselves.
You need to bring this into your copy when talking about how they’ll feel when they achieve that big goal that they’re chasing.
And you can’t do that with numbers.
When you write next, inject emotion into your words.
Though challenging at first, don't be surprised when replies flood your inbox.
People will tell you "finally, someone gets me."
